Numerology FAQ

Questions, Answered Straight

What the numbers mean, how the systems differ, how names are corrected, and where numerology stops being useful.

Basics

What is business name numerology?+

Business name numerology assigns a value to each letter of a name, totals them, and reduces the total to a core number from 1 to 9. Practitioners read that number as the vibration the name carries: its planet, its temperament, and how it behaves in commerce. Many Indian founders check a name's number before registering a company or a domain.

Which number is luckiest for a business name?+

In Chaldean numerology, 5 (Mercury) is considered the strongest trade number because Mercury rules commerce and communication. 6 (Venus) and 1 (Sun) follow closely for brand appeal and leadership. 9 (Mars) suits mass-market and high-energy ventures. Numbers 4 and 8 are traditionally avoided for business names unless the founder's birth numbers support them.

Chaldean or Pythagorean, which system should I trust?+

Chaldean is the older system, based on sound vibration, and it is the one most Indian business numerologists use for names. Pythagorean is simpler and popular in the West. AnkShakti calculates both so you can compare. If the two disagree, most practitioners weight the Chaldean result for a business name.

What is the difference between the compound number and the single number?+

The compound number is the full total before reduction, such as 23. The single number is what that total reduces to, here 2 + 3 = 5. Chaldean numerology reads both: the single number gives the planet and temperament, and the compound number adds its own story. 23 is the Royal Star of the Lion, one of the most fortunate compounds, while 26 reduces to the same 8 as 35 but carries a much heavier warning.

Do digits, spaces and punctuation count?+

Digits count at face value, so the 3 in "Studio 3" adds 3. Spaces, hyphens, apostrophes and full stops are ignored because they have no sound. That means "Haldiram's" and "Haldirams" total the same.

Domains and brand names

Should I include .com or .in when calculating a domain name?+

Traditions differ. Most practitioners read the brand name alone, because that is what people say and remember. Others total the full domain including the extension. AnkShakti shows both totals whenever you enter a domain, so you can check that both spellings land on numbers you are comfortable with.

Do I calculate the brand name or the registered company name?+

Calculate the name customers say and see first, because that is the one repeated thousands of times. Many owners also check the registered name with "Private Limited" or "LLP" attached, since it appears on invoices, bank accounts and contracts. If both land on friendly numbers, you have nothing to worry about.

Changing a name

My name totals 8. Do I have to change it?+

Not necessarily. 8 is Saturn: heavy, slow, karmic, but capable of enormous scale late in the game. Traditional advice is to avoid 8 unless your date of birth is Saturn-friendly. A common remedy is adjusting the spelling, adding or removing a letter, until the total lands on 1, 3, 5 or 6.

How do numerologists correct a business name?+

The usual method is the smallest possible change: double a letter (Flipkart to Flippkart), drop one of a doubled pair, swap a sound-alike letter such as i for y, or add a silent letter at the end. The goal is a total whose root is 1, 3, 5 or 6 without landing on a warning compound such as 16, 26 or 29. The Name Correction tool on this site tries every one-letter change for you.

Which compound numbers should a business name avoid?+

Chaldean tradition singles out 16 (the Shattered Tower), 26 (the Gravest Warning), 29 (Uncertainties), 18 (the Conflict) and 43 (the Upheaval), along with their echoes 35, 44, 47 and 52. Names landing on these are the ones most often respelled, even when the single number looks fine.

Will a numerology spelling hurt my domain or trademark?+

It can if you ignore the practical side. A doubled letter is easy to mistype, so buy the plain spelling as a domain too and point it at your site. Check trademark availability on the IP India public search and company name availability on the MCA portal for the corrected spelling, not the original.

How soon does a corrected name start working?+

Practitioners say the new spelling has to be the one in circulation before anything changes: the signboard, the invoices, the domain, the socials and the way you introduce the business. Nobody can put a date on it, and nothing here predicts one. Treat the correction as a decision you make once and then use consistently.

Owner and partners

What are mulank and bhagyank?+

Mulank is your birth number: the day of the month you were born, reduced to one digit, so the 23rd gives 5. Bhagyank is your destiny number: every digit of your full date of birth added and reduced, so 23-08-1990 gives 32, then 5. Indian numerologists read a business name against both.

Should the business name number match the owner's birth number?+

Indian numerology holds that it should at least be friendly to it. Each number is ruled by a planet, and planets have natural friends and enemies: the Sun (1) and Saturn (8) are enemies, while Mercury (5) and Venus (6) are friends. A 5 name suits a 6 owner well; an 8 name sits uneasily with a 1 owner. The Owner and Name Match tool checks this for you.

What if partners have different birth numbers?+

Most practitioners read the name against the partner who takes the main decisions. The other approach is to look for a name number that is a friend or at least neutral to every partner. 5 is often the easiest fit because Mercury has only one natural enemy.

Other numbers

How is mobile number numerology calculated?+

Add all ten digits of the number and reduce the total to a single digit. 98765 43210 adds to 45, and 4 + 5 = 9. Leave out the +91 country code. Many traders prefer a total of 5 for a business line because Mercury rules communication and trade.

Do the letters in a vehicle registration number count?+

The most common practice counts only the digits, since the state and RTO letters are shared by thousands of vehicles. MH 02 AB 1234 is usually read from 0, 2, 1, 2, 3 and 4, which total 12 and reduce to 3. AnkShakti follows that convention.

Which house number is lucky?+

There is no single lucky house number. Tradition favours 1, 3, 5 and 6 for most families, with 6 (Venus) the classic family home. It also matters who lives there, so many people check the house number against the head of the family's birth number. For flats, read the flat number, and include any letter such as 402B.

Trust and privacy

Is numerology scientifically proven?+

No. Numerology is a traditional belief system, not a science, and no controlled study shows name numbers changing business outcomes. Millions of founders still weigh it alongside practical checks the way they weigh a good muhurat. Use it for reflection and confidence, and make registration decisions on business fundamentals too.

Does AnkShakti store the names or dates I enter?+

No. Every calculation runs inside your browser and nothing you type is sent to a server. Google Analytics records that a reading happened and which number came out, never the name, phone number or date of birth itself. The privacy policy has the details.
