The Lagna, also called the ascendant or rising sign, is the zodiac sign that was rising on the eastern horizon at the moment and place of your birth. It becomes the first house of your Kundali, and the other 11 houses follow from it in order. Because the zodiac turns once around the Earth every day, the Lagna changes sign about every two hours, so a birth time that is off by even half an hour can move your Lagna.

What the Lagna is
